We’re excited to announce that SafetyCulture has acquired the class-leading mobile training solution EdApp. The acquisition means that we can support more businesses, big and small, as effective workplace training becomes more critical than ever.
EdApp is SafetyCulture’s first acquisition and follows a series of investments in EdApp over the last two years. Up to today, SafetyCulture has focused on the inspections and issues space with our flagship product, iAuditor. Training has always been part of SafetyCulture’s roadmap because it impacts everybody who is in the workforce. This is an opportunity for both our companies to be able to go much further and help businesses do their best work every day.
For our customers, this represents a new era in learning as training becomes just as important as compliance. As our world changes, a cultural shift needs to occur, with an integrated approach to safety now essential for operational excellence. Organizations can increase productivity, promote employee accountability, and enhance customer experience with an integrated approach that combines training, inspections, and issue response.
Retraining is the new normal
The global economy has experienced disruption like no other in 2020. External forces continue to change direction by the minute, and the organizations that can adapt the fastest will be the winners. Rapid retraining of existing teams will play an increasingly important role in post-pandemic recovery, as businesses consider how best to align with new market conditions and shifting consumer preferences.
An immediate need for simple and effective training exists, as organizations struggle to upskill employees in quickly evolving government guidelines. However, the greater opportunity for businesses lies in integrating training into existing safety processes. Engaging micro-lessons can be introduced to build on the foundation of digital checklists and issues. Targeted lessons can be delivered at the perfect time for an immediate impact on teams.
For example, a cafe manager could introduce a sanitation checklist that sets the cleaning standards of the cafe and allows team members to report any issues discovered with our app, iAuditor. At the same time, the manager can set up engaging micro-lessons on EdApp that show cleaning techniques for specific areas.
Adapting teams to new business models will require retraining at speeds many organizations have never experienced. Developing an integrated approach, built on the three pillars of training, inspections, and issues, can help teams adapt faster and deliver a unique competitive advantage.
Workplace learning weaknesses exposed
The pandemic has exposed significant flaws in established learning management systems. As slow content authoring speeds, clunky user experience, low engagement, and poor completion rates prevent effective learning. Organizations quickly discovered broken workplace learning tools at the time when they needed them the most.
In the past, workplace training efforts were more concerned with compliance numbers than tangible learning outcomes. Now, the ability to deliver effective learning fast is critical for survival. The safety of customers, employees, and brand reputations now depends on teams being upskilled in minutes, not days.
Adapt faster with mobile-first training
EdApp is disrupting the traditional approach to workplace learning by delivering micro-lessons directly to users’ smartphones. Businesses can now rapidly create engaging content with simple, intuitive templates, and learners stay engaged by consuming shorter, targeted bursts at their own pace, when they decide.
