Australian-based global technology company extends sponsorship of rising Australian tennis star

Global technology company, SafetyCulture, has extended its sponsorship of rising Australian tennis star, Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The sponsorship follows Kokkinakis’ comeback to tennis at the Australian Open in February where he secured his first singles victory in Melbourne since 2015.

In his inspiring comeback to the sport Kokkinakis reached the second round at the AO and pushed world No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas to five sets in one of the matches of the tournament. Now competing overseas, he has continued his strong results, qualifying for the ATP event in Miami and securing a first round win.

SafetyCulture swung into action in February to support Kokkinakis’ Australian Open campaign after he received widespread attention for playing in unsponsored plain t-shirts.

Luke Anear, Founder and CEO of SafetyCulture says, “We’re proud to continue our sponsorship of Thanasi and are inspired to get behind such phenomenal young local talent.

“Thanasi has had a strong comeback to tennis after a series of challenging injuries and we want to support his continued success as tournaments get back up and running around the world.”

Kokkinakis says, “I’m incredibly excited to have the ongoing support and partnership from SafetyCulture. I feel proud to have an Aussie brand in my corner backing me all the way. To have a brand that is also playing such an important role in helping sports and other live events get back-up and running smoothly and safely is a perfect match.”

Tennis Australia has worked with Safety Culture’s iAuditor app for safety checks across a wide range of operational activities, including inspecting seating, catering and equipment, and general safety and compliance checks.

Earlier this year SafetyCulture also supported Sydney Festival 2021 to prototype what a COVID-safe festival would look like via its flagship product iAuditor. COVID-specific checklists were customised for each event site – from crowd control to mask compliance – allowing the community to safely come together to celebrate the arts.
