Never Give Up – Diana Nyad

Diana Nyad was the first person to achieve the extraordinary – to swim over 110 miles from Cuba to Florida. 25 million people worldwide rooted for Diana Nyad as she approached Florida’s shores, at long last achieving what she’d dreamed of for 35 years. Diana may have been physically exhausted, but over 52 hours, 54 minutes, 18 seconds, she showed the world what persistence and bold spirit can manifest.

She took the stage to tell her to convey the power of the human spirit and refusal to give up:

“Get up. Don’t miss the dawn. Don’t miss your life. Go chase your dreams… If you constantly allow yourself to come short in anything you do, you start lessening your horizons.”

Truly Human Leadership – Bob Chapman

Challenging the traditional way of thinking about how to run a business, Bob Chapman, recently named the #3 CEO in the world by an Inc. magazine article, spoke about how to be a caring and effective leader who puts people first.

The importance of a people-centric approach is something so simple that’s easily forgotten. Everyone wants to know who they are and what they do matters. Everyone wants to do better, so trust them. Leaders are everywhere, so find them. People achieve good things every day, so celebrate them. Everybody matters, so show them.

“Leadership is the stewardship of the lives entrusted to you… the person you report to at work is more important to your health than your family doctor.

Tremco – Ro Lewis

Ro Lewis, Director of Health and Safety shared some powerful points on what Safety means to Tremco, and how it’s evolved over time.

“If there are no safe and sound people, you have no workforce. If there are no safe and sound people, you have no clients. You lead with safety, and end with family.”

Freedom Forever – Edwin Dayrit Jr

What keeps 2,000 employees on the same page? For those at Freedom Forever, one of America’s fastest-growing solar power companies, it starts with a vision. Edwin Dayrit Jr, Director of Internal Communications at Freedom Forever takes to the stage to share their story.

“In order to become extraordinary, we have to wake up every morning and choose extraordinary thoughts.”

Beyond Deepwater Horizon – Caleb Holloway

Caleb Holloway is a Deepwater Horizon survivor — widely known as one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history. In this fireside chat, Caleb and Luke discuss trust, leadership and teamwork in the face of tragedy.

“People will always need help, there will always be accidents. While other people are running away, we’re running in.”

The “Magic” of Winning – Magic Johnson

During his athletic career, Johnson earned five NBA championship rings and led the Los Angeles Lakers to nine NBA finals. He won three MVP awards and played in 12 NBA All-Star games.

Now, Johnson is one of the most powerful and respected businessmen and philanthropists in the world. In this Fireside chat, Johnson shared how he took the skills he learnt from the basketball court to his remarkable rise into the business world.

“We’re only as good as who we work next to. Everybody on the team has to play their role and be excellent at what they do. If I’m going to demand excellence, I have to be about it first. Then it can trickle down.”
